LOOKING FOR INFORMATION ON A FIRE THAT WAS SET TO THE AREA OF 188 AT HERON BAY LOOP

On December 19, 2013, Mobile County Sheriff’s Office responded to a call of a fire that was located in a large section of the woods on HWY 188 at Heron Bay Loop.  Kevin Quallls, Alabama Port Volunteer Fire Department, says that his Fire Department has been called to the area everyday this week in reference to small fires being deliberately set.  A white male on a four wheeler has been seen at one of the fire locations.  As firefighters tried to approach the male he fled the scene.  If anyone has any information about this crime, please contact the Mobile County Sheriff’s Office, 574-8633.  You may also send us information anonymously thru our website, www.mobileso.com.  On the top right corner of the website, you may click CRIME TIPS, and place information about this or any other crime that you may have information about.

Meth Lab found beside bed where 1 year old sleeps

 

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

 

On December 4, 2013, Mobile County Sheriff’s Office executed a search warrant at 9315 Nursery Road for stolen property.  While searching the property, it was discovered that there were THREE (3) active meth labs on the premises.  An additional meth lab was found but was not active 

 

MCSO seized over 250 grams of meth, four (4) stolen televisions, a kindle, and other additional items that had been reported stolen

 

JOHN HICKS and AMBER TRAWICK HICKS were charged with two (2) counts of chemical endangerment to a child.  Deputies said that one of the ACTIVE meth labs was found beside the bed where the one year old sleeps.  Both children were taken from the home and given to a family member.

 

JOHN HICKS was also charged earlier this year with manufacturing meth and manufacturing controlled substance 1st degree.

 

The Meth Initiative began in 2008 by Sheriff Sam Cochran.  The program targets meth users through three areas of focus:  ENFORCEMENT, COMPLIANCE AND EDUCATION.

CHRISTMAS BIKE GIVEAWAY

WHAT: CHRISTMAS BIKE GIVEAWAY

On December 17, 2013, The Mobile County Sheriff’s Office will have their Annual Bicycle Giveaway. Each year the MCSO collects about 100 bicycles that are given to children through out the Mobile area. Some non- profit agencies participate as well such as Baptist Children’s home, Wilmer Hall and St. Mary’s.

Donations come through private parties and businesses in Mobile County. Last year the Sheriff’s office donated over 100 Bicycles to needy families in our community.

Donations are accepted and stored at the MCSO Theodore location, 5808 US Highway 90.

More than 700 children have received bicycles in previous years. “The greatest feeling in the world is watching those children pick out their very own bike”, said Richard Cayton, founder of the bicycle giveaway program.

Anyone who wishes to donate to the program should bring new and unused bicycles, toys or gift card donations to the Theodore location. If donating by check, please make payable to Foundation of the Mobile County Sheriff’s Office.

Anyone looking to receive a bike should call this number  574- 5691 and give us the following;

1.  Your name and contact information
2.  Your child or childrens name and age
  You will be notified by DECEMBER 16, 2013 if you have been selected.

MCSO EXECUTES WARRANT AT THE CHOCTAW ENTERTAINMENT CENTER

On November 7, 2013, The Mobile County Sheriff’s Office executed a search warrant at the Choctaw Entertainment Center located on Red Fox Road in Mobile County.  MCSO had received numerous complaints about the center.

 

After conferring with both the Alabama Attorney General’s Office and the Mobile County District Attorney’s Office, both concurred that Electronic Bingo machines are illegal in Mobile County. 

 

MCSO seized fifty (50) electronic machines and will file for forfeiture of the machines and have them condemned. 

 

No arrest was made at the time of this operation.

MCSO arrest more people for selling Spice

 

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

 

On Tuesday, October 29, 2013, The Mobile County Sheriff’s Office arrested three people, PHUC THI NGUYEN, TUAN HOANG  and  BAO HOANG,  in a two month undercover narcotics investigation.  MCSO Deputies were tipped off that the family was selling “Spice” out of their convenience stores; Old Pascagoula Road and Theodore-Dawes Road in Theodore.

 

MCSO Captain Rassie Smith said “Spice” has become very popular among youth and adults because it could not be detected in a drug test.  “All that has changed in the last year”, said Captain Smith.  “Drug testing companies are now able to include a panel for Spice.  We realize the dangers of this drug, especially to our youth and we will continue to arrest anyone that is selling, trafficking or distributing this drug”.

 

MCSO Detectives found spice, marijuana and firearms at the business where the spice was being sold.

 

Earlier in the week, MOBILE COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE along with HOMELAND SECURITY INVESTIGATIONS BEST (Border Enforcement Security Task Force) arrested HARSHADBHAI PATEL, a known supplier of Spice in Mobile County as well as Baldwin County.  MCSO seized $95,000.00 in currency and approximately 7,000 packets of spice.
