On December 20, 2011, The Mobile County Sheriff’s Office will have their Annual Bicycle Giveaway.  Each year the MCSO collects about 100 bicycles that are given to children selected by patrol deputies or through area children’s homes, including Wilmer Hall and St. Mary’s Home.

Donations come through private parties and businesses, including D.J.’s Lounge in Theodore, which has donated hundreds of bicycles over the years.  Last year, Glenn Dyer of Dryer Trucking, donated over twenty Bicycles to needy families in our community.

Donations are accepted and stored at the MCSO Theodore location, 5808 US Highway 90. Families wishing to receive bicycles should contact the MCSO at 574-6397, no later than Friday, December 16, 2011.  Leave a message with the following information; age and gender of the children, an adult name and a contact number.

More than 700 children have received bicycles in previous years.  “The greatest feeling in the world is watching those children pick out their very own bike”, said Richard Cayton, founder of the bicycle giveaway program.

Anyone who wishes to donate to the program should bring new and unused bicycles, toys or gift card donations to the Theodore location.  If donating by check, please make payable toFoundation of the Mobile  County Sheriff’s Office.
