SHERIFF’S POSSE

THE MOBILE COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE POSSE

 

The Mobile County Sheriff’s Posse’ was established

by Sheriff Ray D. Bridges administration in 1957.

The Posse’ was comprised of fifty prominent Mobile

men. There were doctors,  attorneys, and a multitude of

varying professions including contractors.

 

The Posse’ received national recognition when

it was selected to ride in the inaugural parade of

President John F. Kennedy.

 

The Posse’ has been in many Gubernatorial

inaugural parades, and rides about thirteen Mardi-

Gras parades each year.

 

Membership requires a member to have his own

horse and equipment as well as a horse trailer.

Member applicants must pass.
