HOMICIDE

On Saturday, February 4, 2012, Mobile County Sheriff’s Office responded to the area of Spice Pond Road in reference to two females fighting inside of a vehicle.  

While on the way to that call the deputies received another call giving the description of the same vehicle being involved in a wreck on Spice Pond Road.

MCSO Deputies arrived on the scene of the accident and found one female lying in the passenger side, deceased.  The suspect driving the vehicle was taken into custody and taken to a local hospital for minor injuries.

At this time it is not known the relationship between the two women.  As soon as all family has been notified of the deceased we will release their names.  This investigation is ongoing.

MCSO arrested

On Thursday, February 2, 2012, Mobile County Sheriff’s Office arrested WESLEY WYATT WHITNEY and KYLE KENDRICK with (5) counts of unlawful breaking and entering a vehicle.  

MCSO deputies stopped WHITNEY and KENDRICK on Three Notch and Schillinger Road and found a small amount of stolen property inside their vehicle.  A search of WHITNEY’S residence yielded a stolen credit card and assorted stolen electronics.  Deputies also recovered stolen property from a MPD auto-burglary in September 2011.  A search of KENDRICK’S residence yielded a stolen rifle and assorted stolen electronics.

WHITNEY and KENDRICK confessed to burglarizing over 100 vehicles in the past year, 2011.  The two were also responsible for the vehicles that were burglarized last week in The Copeland Island and Windy Oaks subdivisions.

“Our investigators did a fine job in tracking these young men,” says Sheriff Sam Cochran, “ This case was solved because of some great detective work.”

Pill Shopping

On 02-02-12, Mobile County Sheriff’s Office Deputies and Agents from the Mississippi Bureau of Narcotics conducted a surveillance operation at a local pharmacy in the Mobile area.  The investigation focused on subjects attempting to purchase pseudoephedrine illegally.

MCSO arrest 12 more people for pill shopping

On December 9, 2011, The Mobile Sheriff’s Office along with Mississippi Bureau of Narcotics, conducted an undercover operation, which resulted in the arrest of 12 people.   The operation focused on subjects attempting to illegally possess pseudoephedrine and those traveling from Mississippi into Alabama to purchase pseudoephedrine illegally.

As a part of the Mobile County Sheriff’s Office Meth Initiative, a countywide database of all pharmacies and stores that sell the medicines that contain ephedrine and pseudoephedrine has been established.  Sheriff’s investigators have used the database to identify persons illegally purchasing these products for the manufacturing of methamphetamine.

 

The Meth Initiative, designed by the Mobile County Sheriff’s Office, targets meth users and manufactures through three areas of focus: Enforcement, Compliance and Education.

24 STORES COMPLIED WITH NOT SELLING ALCOHOL….

On December 08, 2011 the Youth Investigation Unit worked jointly with Alabama A.B.C. agents in an attempt to locate businesses in southern Mobile County that were selling alcoholic beverages to minors.  In the operation a minor certified through the Alabama Alcoholic Beverage Control Board was sent into twenty six stores in an attempt to purchase alcohol.

 

The investigation revealed that the following two stores sold alcohol to the minor:

 

1.     Rand’s Quick Stop, 12352 Old Pascagoula Rd.  Grand Bay, Al.

2.     Doug’s Quick Stop #2, 8501 Old Pascagoula Rd.  Theodore, Al.

 

 

The investigation revealed that the following twenty four stores complied with Alabama State Law in not selling alcohol to the underage minor:
