MCSO arrest 12 more people for pill shopping

On December 9, 2011, The Mobile Sheriff’s Office along with Mississippi Bureau of Narcotics, conducted an undercover operation, which resulted in the arrest of 12 people.   The operation focused on subjects attempting to illegally possess pseudoephedrine and those traveling from Mississippi into Alabama to purchase pseudoephedrine illegally.

As a part of the Mobile County Sheriff’s Office Meth Initiative, a countywide database of all pharmacies and stores that sell the medicines that contain ephedrine and pseudoephedrine has been established.  Sheriff’s investigators have used the database to identify persons illegally purchasing these products for the manufacturing of methamphetamine.

 

The Meth Initiative, designed by the Mobile County Sheriff’s Office, targets meth users and manufactures through three areas of focus: Enforcement, Compliance and Education.

24 STORES COMPLIED WITH NOT SELLING ALCOHOL….

On December 08, 2011 the Youth Investigation Unit worked jointly with Alabama A.B.C. agents in an attempt to locate businesses in southern Mobile County that were selling alcoholic beverages to minors.  In the operation a minor certified through the Alabama Alcoholic Beverage Control Board was sent into twenty six stores in an attempt to purchase alcohol.

 

The investigation revealed that the following two stores sold alcohol to the minor:

 

1.     Rand’s Quick Stop, 12352 Old Pascagoula Rd.  Grand Bay, Al.

2.     Doug’s Quick Stop #2, 8501 Old Pascagoula Rd.  Theodore, Al.

 

 

The investigation revealed that the following twenty four stores complied with Alabama State Law in not selling alcohol to the underage minor:

Two adults arrested with manufacturing with four children inside home

On December 6, 2011 Mobile County Sheriff’s Office executed a search warrant at a residence on Thornhill Circle and arrested JESSICA LEIGH MOREE and WILLIAM EDWARD MORGAN, JR.  The search warrant was a result of several anonymous tips given to the Mobile County Sheriff’s Office.

 

MCSO Narcotic Deputies arrived at the residence around 6:45 pm and found a working meth lab, drug paraphernalia, marijuana and four children under the age of 12 years old.  MORGAN was also running a tattoo parlor out of the residence.

 

MCSO Deputies stated that two of the children were also present in their father’s home, Kenneth Sikes, when he was arrested back in August for manufacturing meth at his residence in Wilmer.  DHR was notified by the Mobile County Sheriff’s Office. The children were turned over to relatives.

MCSO Christmas Bicycle Giveaway

WHEN:  December 20, 2011

 

On December 20, 2011, The Mobile County Sheriff’s Office will have their Annual Bicycle Giveaway.  Each year the MCSO collects about 100 bicycles that are given to children selected by patrol deputies or through area children’s homes, including Wilmer Hall and St. Mary’s Home.

 

Donations come through private parties and businesses, including D.J.’s Lounge in Theodore, which has donated hundreds of bicycles over the years.  Last year, Glenn Dyer of Dryer Trucking, donated over twenty Bicycles to needy families in our community.

 

Donations are accepted and stored at the MCSO Theodore location, 5808 US Highway 90. Families wishing to receive bicycles should contact the MCSO at 574-6397, no later than Friday, December 16, 2011.  Leave a message with the following information; age and gender of the children, an adult name and a contact number.

 

More than 700 children have received bicycles in previous years.  “The greatest feeling in the world is watching those children pick out their very own bike”, said Richard Cayton, founder of the bicycle giveaway program.

 

Anyone who wishes to donate to the program should bring new and unused bicycles, toys or gift card donations to the Theodore location.  If donating by check, please make payable toFoundation of the Mobile  County Sheriff’s Office.
