SHOOTING IN ST. ELMO

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

On January 26, 2013, at approximately 11:45,  The Mobile County Sheriff’s Office responded to 7275 Half Mile Road for a report of a shooting.  When Deputies arrived at the scene, they found CHARLES PENDEGRASS (04/07/1985) with a shot in the lower abdomen by NORMAN SMITH (05/20/1981).   SMITH lives at the above address with JAMIE PARMER, who is the mother of PENDEGRASS’ daughter.

SMITH told Deputies that PENDEGRASS came to the above address demanding to see his daughter.  SMITH told PENDEGRASS to leave several times but PENDEGRASS refused.  SMITH grabbed a 12-gauge shotgun leaning by the door and the two began to fight over the gun.   After a brief struggle, SMITH fired into the abdomen of PENDEGRASS.

JAMIE PARMER has several documented cases with MCSO involving harassment and physical violence from PENDEGRASS.  The case will be turned over to the Grand Jury.

PENDEGRASS is listed in stable condition.
