MOBILE COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE WORKED TWO DIFFERENT HOUSE PARTIES OVER THE PAST WEEKEND.
On January 17, 2015 at approximately 11:30pm, Mobile County Sheriff’s Office was called to 7231 Mimosa Drive South in reference to loud music and reckless driving. When Deputies pulled up to the scene all subjects fled the scene leaving behind several beer cans and red plastic cups. Deputies knocked on the door to make contact with the homeowner, Patrick Wayne Baker, and asked if he had knowledge of the beer and cups in his yard as well as anyone fleeing from his residence. Baker denied having any knowledge of what deputies were asking, however after further investigations deputies found juveniles were hiding inside his home.
The fifteen juveniles found hiding inside were given portable breathalyzers and six (6) tested positive for being under the influence of alcohol. Deputies made contact with their parents and their charges are being processed through Strickland Youth Center.
Patrick Baker admitted to allowing the juveniles to drink at his home. Baker was taken into custody and charged with “Open House Party”.
On January 18, 2015, at approximately 11:30 pm, Mobile County Sheriff’s Office was called to the residence of 15405 Delta Port Drive, Coden, Alabama, for a disturbance of the peace involving juveniles. The anonymous caller said there were a hundred juveniles partying with loud music and alcohol. MCSO Deputies arrived and found several juveniles and several adults under the age of 21, to be under the influence of alcohol.
There were eight (8) juveniles at the party who were under the influence of alcohol and were turned over to their parents and will be processed through Strickland Youth center. There were nineteen (19) adults, under the age of 21, who deputies signed warrants of being under the influence of alcohol. They were released to their parents or guardian as well.
There were six (6) adults under twenty-one and six (6) juveniles who had not been drinking and were released.
The homeowner, Hunter Myles (19), was charged with “Open House Party” and Travis Brannon (21) was charged with contributing to the delinquency of a minor.
“Several years ago when I was the Chief of Police, Community leaders, Law Enforcement and concerned Parents, formed the Underage Drinking Task Force,” said Sheriff Sam Cochran. “I am convinced because of our compliance checks, training to vendors, and education provided to our youth, we have saved lives and changed social norms in our community”.
Last Year, 2014, Mobile County Sheriff’s Office worked 182 alcohol compliance checks. Of the 182 Compliance Checks 17 stores sold alcohol to a minor. Last week Mobile County Sheriff’s Office went to 23 stores and ALL were in compliance with the law.
