MCSO ARREST ERNEST ALLEN MITCHELL AFTER VEHICLE PURSUIT

On Saturday, May 11, 2013 MOBILE COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE received a call from a victim who said a white male walked out of the woods with scratches on his face and approached her near the back of her home.  The suspect grabbed the victim by her hair and pointed a screw driver at the victims neck demanding the keys to her vehicle and cash. The victim gave the suspect $50.00 from her purse and the keys to her vehicle.   The suspect then fled the residence in the victim’s vehicle.
A BOLO was sent out to all law enforcement and the vehicle was seen by MCSO DEPUTIES on Cemetery Road in Wilmer where a pursuit was initiated.  Stop sticks were set out by deputies but the suspect avoided the sticks.   The pursuit continued West on Moffett Road where the suspect wrecked the vehicle into the woods.  The suspect then fled into nearby woods.   MCSO set up a perimeter involving K9 units, ID, Major Crimes, IA, and a Alabama State Trooper helicopter.
The suspect was identified through a photo line up as ERNEST A. MITCHELL  (DOB: 5-6-1984).  At approximately 3:00 am Sunday Morning, May 12, 2013, ERNEST A. MITCHELL was located at his father’s home, 5760 Morgan Lane, Wilmer.  He was arrested and taken to Metro Jail.
Earlier Saturday morning MITCHELL’S father reported his truck being stolenERNEST A. MITCHELL was reported as the suspect.   Theft of property 1st have been added to his list of charges.
