National Telecommunication’s Week is April 14 – 18, 2014. During this week we will honor the men and women who serve as Public Safety Dispatchers.

The Mobile County Communications District/911 is staffed 24-hours a day, 7 days a week. Dispatchers who are housed in the facility are Mobile County Sheriff’s Office, Mobile Police Department, Mobile County Emergency Management System, Mobile Fire Department. Although other jurisdictions such as, Satsuma, Chickasaw, Prichard, Saraland, and Dauphin Island are not housed there, 911 will route the incoming call to the proper jurisdiction.

“Every day we depend on the men and women who exhibit skill, expertise and commitment to their jobs as Public Safety Telecommunicators,” said Sheriff Sam Cochran. “These individuals help save countless lives by responding to emergency calls, dispatching emergency professionals and equipment, and provide moral support to citizens in distress. As we recognize these Public Safety Professionals, we hope to create public awareness and promote much needed education regarding important safety issues in our Community”.
