Inmate Information

Q. How do I find out when and where to come and visit an inmate?

This will depend on the housing assignment of the inmate. You may contact the visitation officer at 251-574-4734 or 251-574-3388 between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday to schedule an appointment to visit the inmate. Visitation must be scheduled twenty-four hours in advance of the visit. No visits will be allowed without advance approval.

Q. Can I bring food, clothing, or medication to the offender?

No. Medication can be administered only through the jail's medical clinic. Some medications may be accepted by medical personnel if you contact the clinic at 251-574-3368 or 251-574-3369 for permission. The medicine must be brought to the Docket Room and accepted by medical personnel. Medication will be given to the inmate only if the physician orders that it be given.

Q. How do I get the personal property of an inmate, such as wallet, keys and jewelry?

Personal property is released Sunday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. through the Docket Room. The inmate must complete a property release form listing the name of the person picking up the property. That person must present picture identification in the form of a driver's license or non-driver's license issued by the state or a government issued identification Card or a military identification card.

Q. How do I get money that was in the inmate's possession at the time of arrest ?

The inmate must fill out a release form as with other property. The person picking up the money must have the same identification as stated for other property and the person must appear at the Money Clerks' office adjacent to the visitation lobby. The Money Clerks' office is open Mondays 12 noon until 4:00 p.m. and Tuesday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m.
